Why Cortona on the Move 2020?

The object of the festival is to celebrate a Journey: be it real or imaginary, shocking or revolutionary, a voyage of self-discovery or an exposé of the human condition. And the sheer beauty of Cortona’s historical buildings, with its ancient Tuscan landscape, is the backdrop for dozens of exhibitions displaying the work of important Italian and foreign photographers, as well as for workshops with contemporary professional photographers. Cortona OTM is also aimed at emerging talents who, through the medium of our Off Circuit, are offered the opportunity to show their work alongside their more famous colleagues, but also to receive helpful advice and criticism of their work in the Portfolio Readings. Each year a jury of distinguished experts elects the winner of Happiness On The Move, an international prize associated with the festival. In a short space of time Cortona OTM has become 'the best festival in Europe if not the world', to quote the words of Donald Winslow, photojournalist and editor of News Photographer Magazine.

Cortona on the Move 2020 Workshop:

Cortona On The Move makes available its knowledge and experience for the training of photographic enthusiasts and organises workshops with world class photographers and professionals. Courses are open to everyone

Cortona on the Move 2020 Portfolio Review:

Cortona On The Move is an occasion for photographers to meet photo editors and editorial staff of the most important magazines, publishers, photographic agencies and organisations.

Cortona on the Move 2020 OFF Circuit:

OFF Circuit is where you have an opportunity to display your work side-by-side with that of your more famous colleagues. Each year OFF Circuit selects the work for 5 separate exhibitions in the upcoming edition of the festival. OFF Circuit is open to all photographers.

Cortona on the Move 2020 Location:

For ten weeks a year the Festival becomes the flesh and blood of Cortona while its photographs grace the walls of alleyways and buildings in the town centre. During the opening days of the festival, Cortona offers the beauty of its streets and plazas for open-air events and dinner parties.

Cortona On The Move has an ongoing commitment to promoting the work and passion of both professional and emerging photographers. The international photo contest HAPPINESS ON THE MOVE/FELICITA' IN MOVIMENTO is a valid tool for this commitment.
