Narrative and Photo:
In recent years, the importance of the narrative afforded by photo-stories, documentary projects and photo-books have overshadowed the popularity of the single stand-alone image, especially in portraiture. Seemingly innocuous, a winning portrait photograph, on its own, can evoke many layers of emotions, equally contain a powerful or subtle narrative, and may be just as complex as a multi-image photo-story. These qualities come through the skills of the artistic and competent photographer who ultimately is a story-teller.
Who can enter Kuala Lumpur International Photo awards (KLPA) 2019:
KLPA2019 is open to all amateur and professional photographers from all around the world. All contestants must be at least 16 years at 30 April 2019. The Prize Winners will be announced at an Awards Presentation ceremony and exhibition. This will take place in from 6 - 17 August 2019 at Whitebox gallery, PUBLIKA, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.Kuala Lumpur International Photo awards (KLPA) 2019 Photographers:
Must be 16 years of age or over on 30th April 2019
You may enter:- Category A - SINGLE PORTRAIT THEMED 'STILLNESS & DISTANCE' : 1 to 10 images
and/or
- Category B - SINGLE PORTRAITS OPEN : 1 to 10 images
Must complete the Entry Form with their name, address, daytime telephone, email address and titles.Photographers may enter one or both categories, separately.

Kuala Lumpur International Photo awards (KLPA) will be held 14 to 29 Sep 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur International Photo awards (KLPA) is one of the important Photo awards. It is at the forefront in contemporary portrait photography based in South East Asia, acknowledging, rewarding and displaying portrait photography from across the globe since 2009. The Kuala Lumpur International Photoawards sees contemporary portrait photography as one of the most challenging and important genres in modern times. The formality of the portrait photograph, though practiced throughout the decades and began as a replacement to status paintings, has become democratised through the invention of reproducible film and portable cameras. KLPA's team seek fresh and innovative photography from new, emerging and established photographers from around the world.
