The Festival d’Aix-en-Provence  has been boasting a programme of great variety: opera productions, Mozart works, major creations, rediscovery of Baroque masterpieces, chamber orchestra operas and exceptional series of concerts. With this diversity, it caters for an ever growing enthusiastic audience and was awarded “Best festival of the year” by the International opera awards 2014. The Festival also brings together regional as well as national and international economic organisations, patron or partner companies and professionals from all over the world.

The occupancy rates for the theatres were very high, 99.5% for operas. 17.8% of festival goers came from Europe and worldwide, 53.7% from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region and 31.5% from the rest of France.

With its huge spiral staircases, its medieval arches and its XVIIth century wings, the cour de l'Archevêché is a national treasure, one of the most important of the city history. Becoming a theater in 1948, it is now the Festival's emblematic venue.
