Why Head On Photo Festival 2020?

Head On Photo Festival is a bridge between Australian and international photographic markets. The festival has toured in America, China, India, Europe and New Zealand. This has introduced the international photographic elite to the wealth of photographic talent Australia possesses.

Head On is proudly inclusive. It  work with people from indigenous backgrounds, young people, older people, disabled people and people of diverse cultural backgrounds. Over the years, Head On Photo Festival has put $500,000(AUD) worth of photography equipment and prizes back into the industry through the Head On Awards.

Description of Head On Photo Festival 2020:

Head On Photo Festival is calling for entries to the Head On Awards over 4 prizes.

• Portrait Prize– the image must feature or reflect the essence of a person or group of people and must be photographed by the Applicant. Group portraits and self-portraits will be accepted.

• Landscape Prize – Head On’s approach to ‘Landscape’ is very broad and encompasses ‘large vista’ images of the natural environment (land or sea), urban or industrial settings. It may include people but these should be ‘incidental’ rather than the main subject matter.

• Mobile Prize– images submitted can be of any subject matter and any style as long as they were captured on a mobile device.

• Student Prize – only primary and secondary school children who attend schools within Australia will be eligible for this Prize.

Entrants can enter up to 5 images into each category.

Entry fees:

1. Portrait, Landscape, Mobile: $30 per image.
2. Student: $1 per image.

Deadline for submission:

• 28 February 2020.
