THE MARKET - WHAT IS DRIVING THE INDUSTRY:
Increasing specialization and rising demand for quality along with enormous cost pressure are driving demand for latest machinery, tools, cooling systems and other related industrial equipment and accessories. The demand is generated by growing regional economies that are focusing on diverse industrial sectors to boost economic growth.
- The tool & mold-making sector serves several industrial segments, establishing it as a strong indicator of the manufacturing base. The manufacturing sector is a major contributor to the UAE’s GDP and accounts for a major chunk of exports
- A key market for molding equipment and products, GCC’s medical equipment manufacturing and packaging supplies sector is estimated at nearly US$ 2 billion in 2011, while in the Middle East it is estimated at over US$ 6 billion
- Automotive manufacturing is gradually taking roots in the region. Sweden’s Scania and India’s Ashok Leyland have set up base in the UAE; Isuzu has set up a manufacturing unit in Saudi Arabia, while JLR is planning to build a US$167 million factory in the country
