History of SaloneSatellite Italy:
The SaloneSatellite was created in 1998 for the express purpose of bringing together, in the same place and time, the most promising young designers from all over the world with the most important business people and talent scouts gathered in Milan to visit or exhibit at the Salone. The Satellite immediately became an unparallelled observatory of young international creativity.
Each year 700 young people exhibit and exchange ideas at this unique showcase, where a number of designers who are by now world-famous made their debut. the Committee entrusted with selecting the participants, coordinated by the curator of the Satellite, has been populated by a veritable pantheon of the contemporary design world.
Since 2005 the event is held also during the Saloni Worldwide Moscow.
In 2007, on the occasion of the SaloneSatellite's 10th anniversary, the exhibition “A Dream Come True” was organised, curated by Beppe Finessi, who provided an overview of the nine previous editions, exhibiting approximately 400 objects that had been presented at the Satellite as prototypes and then gone on to be produced by the best Italian and foreign manufacturers.
Since 2010, the SaloneSatellite has created the "SaloneSatellite Award" a further step to toward sustaining youthful creativity: designers are invited designers to present, in addition to their prototypes, one or more projects belonging to the product categories of the biennial shows that run concurrently with the Salone Internazionale del Mobile.
