Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) will be held 06 to 11 May 2025 in Stuttgart, Germany. Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) is one of the most outstanding events for animated film worldwide. The Festival takes into its scope the whole spectrum of current productions in the animated film sector, including the intersections between games, architecture, art, design and comedy. With Game Zone, the ITFS takes an especially close look at transmedia and the convergence of animation and computer games. The Festival offers directors as well as production and distribution companies a platform to present their films to an interested and large audience as well as countless members of the industry.. The films screened at cinemas in Stuttgart's city centre and also at the "Festival Garden" – the informal and free open-air cinema on Palace Square – will delight not only film enthusiasts. The latest real-time and flash animation films will be shown, from classic cartoons and artistic trick films to 3D computer animation feature films. There's also a varied fringe program ranging from school and studio presentations to retrospective and screenplay workshops with leading experts. Through innovative event formats and unusual locations – such as the world famous and architecturally unparalleled Mercedes-Benz Museum, the Musikhalle Ludwigsburg, and Wilhelma, the Stuttgart Zoo – animated film is celebrated in all its facets, and in truly grand style, at a numerous festival galas and shows.
Artistic animation and the promotion of up and coming talent make up the core of the ITFS. The various competition categories award cash prizes totalling more than 50,000 euros. Together, the ITFS, the Animation Production Day, and the first-class industry conference FMX have developed into an important platform for the financing and development of animated projects.
The accompanying events and programmes range from presentations by schools and studios, showcases of famous animation artists and the popular “Best Of Animation” series, right up to screenplay writer workshops with well-known animated film professionals.
