The history of this trade show goes hand in hand with the latest evolutions of the domestic bathroom. In recent years, no other part of the home has undergone such a radical reinterpretation and aesthetic transformation. From its former role as a hidden, exclusively functional space, the bathroom has achieved the status of a proper room, with the same importance as the others. As such, it has increasingly become the object of the careful attention of both homeowners and architects, who treat it as a privileged place of experimentation capable of assuming different functions, one worthy of investment in both advanced technologies and aesthetic quality.
Launched in 2003 as a subsector of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the International Bathroom Exhibition became an autonomous entity in 2006 with its own dedicated space featuring bath accessories, shower cubicles, sauna installations, porcelain fixtures, radiators, wall and floor coverings, taps, bath and whirlpool tubs.
Like EuroCucina (the kitchen furniture exhibition), the International Bathroom Exhibition is held on even-numbered years. Its display space of about 18,000 square metres and over 200 exhibitorsare visited by many among the ever-growing crowds that flock to the Milan Fairgrounds in Rho for the Salone del Mobile: more than 300,000 professionals, more than 60% of whom from 160 nations; over 5,000 journalists representing more than 800 Italian publications and more than 1,200 foreign ones from 74 countries; approximately 40,000 visitors from the general public to whom the fair is open during the weekend.
