SEAmpathy, explores algae to create a series of vegan materials. Conceived by designer Daniel Elkayam (@danielelkayam) the project embraces the idea of biophilia, while examining a connection between humans and nature.
.
The image pictured features YAMA, a partition which implements the algae as a versatile sheet with potential for recycling. Formed out of cero waste production, Elkayam produced biometarial which can be reused by repeating a process of “cooking”. At the end of its life cycle it can then be used as raw material for casting, or returned to nature. .
The material preserves the contents and properties of Algae, and allows maximal utilisation with minimal environmental impact.
