In his book “Northern Plains Native Americans: A Modern Wet Plate Perspective,” Shane Balkowitsch pays homage to his home state of North Dakota and its Native American heritage and culture with 55 large-format wet plate collodion portrait images. “Each image contains not only the moment it was taken, but the time in which it was taken,” Balkowitsch says of the process. "Each exposure contains a piece of eternity.
