An encounter with one of three #RezaAramesh hand-carved and polished Carrara marble sculptures from ‘Site of the Fall: Study of the Renaissance Garden’ (2016–2017), exhibited by @LeilaHellerGallery for the 8th edition of #ArtBaselParcours. Crafted in Pietrasanta, Italy to the ratio 5:4 of human scale, the pieces were placed within three contrapuntal contexts: amongst masterpieces in a museum, on the bank of the Rhine, and before the threshold of the Basel courthouse, as if awaiting judgment. In the @AntikenMuseumBasel (shown above), @RezaArameshStudio’s contemporary anonymous figure stood in the center, surrounded by – and in dialogue with – ancient sculptures excavated from the vaulted cellars of a first century AD Gallo-Roman village.
