A new BIFB venue is sure to be one of the go-to destinations of 2019’s festival - as so many events and artists take over the National Centre Of Photography. This new permanent gallery and art-making space has been developed for our community by us at Ballarat International Foto Biennale, to facilitate local and international artists creating here in our beautiful city.
See Naomi Cass and Gareth Syvret’s Capital, as their exhibition ironises the history of the building; a converted Union Bank. Capital questions the capitalist model and it’s legacy, and what systems of values and exchange mean for both settler and Indigenous cultures.
Also drop-in to find the Starward Whisky pop-up bar, taking up residence inside the National Centre For Photography during the festival. Over four Saturdays, you can come warm yourself up and experience the very delicious Starward Whisky at the exhibition Capital, which includes stunning artworks like this one by Kristian Häggblom.
So join us on August 31st, September 14th, 28th and the 19th of October to sip some whisky at the Starward Whisky Bar, inside The National Centre Of Photography. And come see Capital from the 24th of August. [Image credit: Kristian Häggblom, Aokigahara Jukai, courtesy of the artist]
