#UlrikeMuller: ‘I wanted to be a painter when I was much younger, but didn’t know a way how to. There were lots of other things that I did – organizing, queer feminist publishing, performance, video – and I brought all of this along as I finally figured out a way into the studio,’ said the Austrian artist in a 2016 interview with @PhaidonSnaps. Since then, Muller has continued to investigate the ways that form intersects with questions of representation, identity, and the body. Following her participation in the 78th Whitney Biennial, the @NewMuseum’s ‘Trigger: Gender as a Tool and a Weapon' show, and the 57th #CarnegieInternational at @thecmoa, the artist debuted a collection of new works at the 58th #VeniceBiennale this May. This past June her work, ‘Rug (un zapato)’ (2019), was presented by @Rodeo Gallery, alongside works by #TamaraHenderson (pictured), #LilianeLijn, #ImanIssa, and #ShahryarNashat at #ArtBasel2019. #artbasel
