For 6 more weeks, live crickets take the stage in Henrik Håkansson’s installation, ‘The Monsters of Rock, Tour’ (1996). Amidst a constructed habitat that functions as its own ecosystem are a circuit of microphones and amplifiers that capture the males’ calling songs to females and transforms them into a ‘weird symphony’ for the duration of the show. Håkansson’s work, along with Jimmie Durham and Peter Bartoš, are on view at the newly reopened @FondazioneMorraGreco, the first in a series of exhibitions from Collezione Morra Greco (which includes more than a thousand works by around 200 contemporary artists). On the occasion of the reopening, Maurizio Morra Greco spoke with @SkyeSherwin for the latest installment of #ArtBasel’s Why I collect series. Tap the *Stories* link in our bio to read about the radical premise of Morra Greco’s private foundation and what makes his collection ‘an egocentric portrait of the collector’. #HenrikHåkansson #JimmieDurham #PeterBartos
