Hi this is @zoecroggon, this is a new work for the upcoming exhibition ‘Bauhaus Foto’ @ballaratfoto. This series of handmade photograms examine the relative invisibility of female artists in the Bauhaus school despite the omnipresence of Bauhaus as a stylistic foundation in art, architecture and design. I made this work for Gertrud Grunow, one of the Bauhaus’ most influential early teachers and often referred to as the “soul guardian of the Bauhaus”. Grunow contributed a philosophical approach to creativity and the body called the ‘Theory of Hamonization’, and although little remains of her work, her concepts are said to be the basis of all studies in the Bauhaus School.
