A snare drum made of relays, an electronic Kalimba, a pneumatic hi-hat - "Making Techno with Music Robots" uses pretty weird musical instruments. Moritz Simon Geist is a musician, media artist and robotics engineer and builds all his instruments himself. They are all controlled via a MIDI keyboard, small piezo microphones record the sounds and play them back via an amplifier. LEDs on the instruments provide stroboscopic visuals. The result is acoustically and optically unique and more than danceable.
