Freedom resistance

Freedom, resistance, utopia, and justice – the poetry of political protest is at play in this participatory installation by Brazilian artist #RivaneNeuenschwander. Hundreds of visitors to #ArtBasel2019 layered embroidered clothing labels bearing single words and protest slogans onto a massive 30-foot long board. The resulting work, @RivaneNeuenschwander's ‘Bataille’ (2017) presented by @StephenFriedmanGallery at #ArtBaselUnlimited, creates a new lexicon that breaks from the protests that inspired it.
