John Gollings here with my last post as guest editor of this site. As a long time supporter and exhibitor, I’d like to thank BIFB for the opportunity to re-examine some of my own work. Rod Home was my physics teacher in year 12. He was an old boy of my school barely older than me, having returned as a teacher immediately on graduation. When we learnt of his engagement his next class was a celebration, no doubt fuelled by teenage enthusiasm. As the school photographer I was on hand to record the mayhem. This is a very early example of my photojournalism and an image now in the collection of both the State Library of NSW and The National Gallery of Australia.
