PROLOGUE: What is the value that an image acquires past a crisis?
Today we kick off the IG series “A WORLD OF IMAGES, THE IMAGES OF THE WORLD”, a visual itinerary through some of the works presented at LOOP Fair 2019, or a fragmented narrative to make sense of this time(s).
CHAPTER 1: What is a body? How do we relate to it? Are we bodies among other bodies? How do we negotiate traditional conventions such as social distance, contact or proximity? Is there another way to create communal rituals in these times of pandemic?
VISUAL APPENDIX: Presented at LOOP Fair 2019 by Galerie C @galerie c (Neuchâtel), the film Celebration (2014) by Polina Kanis @polinakanis appoints to some of these questions. A conventional celebration, where “the sparkling trash is not jolly, and the signs of attraction do not entice”. In spite of the fact that the characters are united in action, there is a strong feeling that each of them remains in the personal space completely alienated from the others.
