The late African-American artist Jack Whitten maintained a lifelong exploration of painting as a medium and material. Over the course of his career, he created highly textured surfaces using a variety of unconventional materials and techniques, including slicing into thick layers of paint to reveal deep, undulating ribbons that dance across his canvases. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
