⚽ Soccer, anyone? — Included in @HakgojaeGallery's virtual #artbaselOVR exhibition, Nam June Paik's steel base sculpture ‘Sfera / Punto Elettronico’ was realized for the World Soccer Cup in Italy in 1990. ⠀ Epitomizing his recurring interest in the spectacle of global events, Nam June Paik's iconic work speaks to his prophetic awareness of the power of media and television in the electronic age. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ‘Sfera / Punto Elettronico’ features two unique videos, which are displayed on the 20 larger monitors. The videos contain soccer imagery, as well as scenes from the 1984 Olympics, Joseph Beuys performances, images of a young Paik, Charlotte Moorman and David Bowie, and flags of different countries.
