The final step in the Green Man's transformation - he, the May Queen and the whole procession reach the stage where he is stripped of the last of his winter coat. Photographed here by Gordon Veitch, the Green Man has been on a perilous journey so far, encountering Reds, Whites, and a portal into another world. Now the May Queen has struck him down, so that he may be reborn as Her consort.
