Last Sunday I took my first photo for this series. When COVID started showing up in Australia a few weeks back my friend Emma was advised to take her kids out of school. Both have a condition that means when they get sick they get really sick, and it takes them a lot longer to recover from whatever ails them.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As soon as she told me I knew I wouldn't be able to visit her and her family again properly for a while. They really need to hunker down and isolate. This is even more sucky because Emma gives the most amazing hugs. Poets should write odes to her hugs, sculptures should make soft, fluorescent pink statues about them, painters could paint paintings about them with colors so comforting that when you look at them you know everything is going to be alright.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So the temporary loss of these hugs gave me the idea for this project. These are the people I am staying apart from because I love them so much. I'm glad that Beneois and Gibson and Minnie have those hugs on the inside of that gate, and I guarantee that when this is over the first thing I will do it hug the ever loving shit out of all of my friends and family.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On a technical note. I took this photo from across the street on a 24-80mm lens, so I was about 10 meters away from them. Social distancing is important people!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Please check out my Facebook page, it’s a little more up to date. It usually takes me a few days to post on here.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stay away from each other and take care⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
