#VirtualVacation: Travel back in time to China, circa 1981.
Liu Heung Shing, the Pulitzer-prize-winning photojournalist and artist, visually narrated two of the 20th century’s most defining shifts: the collapse of the Soviet Union and the rise of China.
Regarding the black and white photograph above, taken on a 1981 assignment in China, he shares that the student captured ‘was seemingly skating past Mao as if China was on course to embrace a new direction of national development.' As a photographer, Liu’s philosophy is to explore, unravel, and reveal the beauty and complexity of the world we live in.
