Brainport Smart District, in the City of Helmond, the Netherlands is in the making. Over the next ten years, they will develop 1,500 homes and 12 hectares of business premises, organized around a central park and surrounded by nature reserves.⁠ ⁠ Brainport's vision with the name "Living the Future", is to create a sustainable, circular neighborhood which features joint energy generation, food production, water management, digital data management, and next-generation transport systems.⁠ ⁠ Central to its development is to design it step by step with the consent of the people who will live there. Data will be collected for study and citizens must be aware of how it's used and for what.
