Where does politics end and art begin? — Siah Armajani’s ‘Prophet Ali’ (1963), presented in @rossiandrossi’s Online Viewing Room, was produced using a religious poster acquired in southern Tehran, the year after the artist left his native country for the US. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Key to this work is the inscription of 1963 on the figure's forehead, as it addresses the time between Iran’s 1953 coup and 1979 revolution.
