Gulnur Mukazhanova

Gulnur Mukazhanova (b. Kazakhstan, live in Berlin) works with traditional Central Asian materials, like felt and brocade. . The artist subverts their conventional domestic use to create complex installations, shifting the focus from the material itself and catching it in a transitional state. Her home country of Kazakhstan is often a subject of her research into the perspectives of globalization and identity politics and the physical presence drawn of her works, allows Mukazhanova to make powerful statements on global affairs. .
