#AaronFowler’s larger-than-life works are at once paintings, sculptures, and installations, infused with personal meaning. To create his project shown by @mblosangeles in Positions – in which the reflective element is all important – Fowler used found mirrors and other discarded objects from his immediate environment, such as afro wigs, album covers, and baseball caps. Each work has a narrative drawn from events from his own personal history, and the materials he uses communicate ideas about transformation, community, and salvation. ‘As he is making them, he is having to look back at himself, confront and good and the bad,’ says Shannon Richardson of M+B. Following #ArtBaselMiamiBeach 2019, the artist's solo exhibition, ‘Into Existence’ opened at @SeattleArtMuseum. Catch it through June 28, 2020! –– Detail of @Aaron Fowler88’s solo installation via #mblosangeles in the Positions sector at our Miami Beach 2019 fair. #artbasel #installationart #mirror #selfportrait #assemblageart
