One of the major themes of @anotherstevesmith’s new photo book “Your Mountain is Waiting,” is “how the landscape is there for us to enjoy and consume, and [consumerism] becomes how we show our love for things.” Smith’s book is focused on suburban developments in the mountain foothills of Southern Utah, where people create miniature homages to the landscape in their homes and communities, even as they are chewing up the natural landscape through development. Through framing and perspective, Smith found that he could “pack a lot” into each picture. “A lot of people recreate a smaller version of the existing landscape in miniature in their own yards,” he says, “and if you stand in the right place you can kind of mirror the same landscape in a different scale.” Follow the link in our bio to read more about Smith’s book, which is published by RADIUS.
