@RichardGrayGallery’s Paul Gray and Valerie Carberry discuss over three decades spent supporting the innovative endeavors of a living legend.
When #DavidHockney first showed at #RichardGrayGallery in 1983, he had been an internationally acclaimed painter for years. But Richard Gray and his son, Paul – now a partner at the gallery alongside Carberry – were particularly taken by the artist’s lens-based work and chose to focus on his then-new series of photo collages. This ‘aggressively enthusiastic’ support of Hockney’s most innovative side, to borrow Gray’s words, never stopped. In this new episode of #ArtBasel’s series ‘Meet the Gallerists’, the partners revisit one of the gallery’s most enduring relationships.
