China is the leading trade partner of UAE in terms of non-oil commodities, accounting for 9.7 per cent of its total non-oil trade in 2018, valued at over $43 billion. Over 800,000 Chinese expats are working in UAE and over 4,000 Chinese companies are present in the country. Annual Investment Meeting, along with the Ministry of Economy (MOE) hosted a Chinese delegation from the International Cooperation Centre of National Development and Reform Commission (ICC-NDRC) and China Investment Financial Holdings and Silkroad Finance Corporation Limited. Attended by Mohammed Hamdan of MOE, Massimo Falcioni of Etihad Credit Insurance and Shefiu Ismael representing AIM, the delegation discussed about enhancing the bilateral relations between UAE and China. China looks to invest in the areas of Smart Cities, E-commerce and encourage more companies to set up regional business offices in the U.A.E. in fostering regional trade within the Middle East & North Africa.
