Nuit Blanche Toronto will be held 23 to 24 Sep 2023 in Toronto, Canada. Nuit Blanche Toronto is an exciting artistic event. There will be plenty to see once the sun goes down. Since its more humble beginnings, this contemporary art event has grown in size and scale. Despite some welcome criticism, this annual event continues to evolve. In 2014, it brought more than one million revelers onto the streets to interact with installations by both local and international artists. A Nuit Blanche will typically have museums, private and public art galleries, and other cultural institutions open and free of charge, with the centre of the city itself being turned into a de facto art gallery, providing space for art installations, performances (music, film, dance, performance art), themed social gatherings, and other activities. With more than 110 projects scattered throughout the city on Saturday night, it'll be nearly impossible to see everything, even if you manage to stay out for the full 12 hours, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. you never know what surprises you might encounter on your arts-filled journey around the city. Experience Toronto transformed by contemporary art projects created by hundreds of artists. Nuit Blanche Toronto is an event and I like events...

Nuit Blanche Toronto Opportunity:

The all-night celebration of contemporary art, produced by the City of Toronto in collaboration with Toronto’s arts community, brings together the exceptional talents of artists, curators, galleries, museums, cultural and educational institutions, and neighbourhoods in a collaborative undertaking to transform the city.

Nuit Blanche Toronto Open Call Projects:

Artists from around the world can apply to participate in one of three city-produced Exhibitions at Nuit Blanche Toronto through the Open Call Projects program.

Each year the City of Toronto works with Curators to commission a series of installations ('Exhibition Projects') for their Exhibition areas. In addition to these commissioned projects, participating Exhibitions include two projects each selected by the Curators through an Open Call process. Open Calls are funded and produced by the City of Toronto. They are selected by Curators in response to the curatorial vision of their Exhibitions. Independent Projects are not funded or produced by the City of Toronto, but instead are program partners of the event. They do not respond to a curatorial theme but are selected through an adjudication process.

Eligibility:

Applicants should be aware that their participation in the Independent Project and Open Call programs in Nuit Blanche Toronto is not automatic, solely on the basis of meeting the general eligibility requirements. All applications are curated (in the case of Open Calls) or juried (in the case of Independent Projects) against the criteria outlined in their respective guidelines. All projects are selected based on artistic merit and project feasibility.
