Anima Mundi festival will be held 17 to 28 Jul 2019 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Anima Mundi festival is a highlight in the cultural season in Brazil: an international film festival which is dedicated entirely to animation. This is a key international event within this genre. It has also spawned a number of similar animation film festivals across the globe, but remains the model and chief talent scout. The first edition of Anima Mundi happened in 1993, in Rio de Janeiro. The festival was created by a group of animators and filmmakers who wanted to raise awareness about animated productions and films in Brazil. A festival that aims to inform, train, educate and entertain by using the infinite possibilities of the language of animation. A panel of animators, filmmakers, journalists, fine artists,musicians and other specialists related to the art of animation vote and award amongst thefilms of the competition’s short film categories. The “Gallery award” is also chosen by thisjury amongst the Gallery films.
The Open Studios is where audience and animators join together to experiment how to make animation by creating little films. Kids, teenagers, families and people from all generations collaborate with each other to discover the excitement of experimenting with various animation techniques. Here is where some of the future talented animators start developing their taste for this art to later compete with their own productions at the festival.
The Festival’s submissions will be open in the middle of March until June 15th.
