Why The Ingmar Bergman International Theatre Festival 2020?
The festival is a forum where different cultures and expressions can meet, a platform for curiosity, discussions and ideas.
In addition, the festival will include conversations with actors and directors from visiting companies, coordinated by the Royal Dramatic Theatre's side programming Dramaten&. Actors from Dramaten will moderate several of these conversations.
Bergman biennal Festival 2020:
The next festival will take place 25th of August – 4th of September 2020. Bergmanfestivalen is a biennial festival that starts in its new form in 2020 and in 2020 the festival will commemorate the 100th anniversary of Ingmar Bergman’s birth.

Ingmar Bergman Theatre Festival will be held 25 Aug to 04 Sep 2020 in Stockholm, Sweden. Ingmar Bergman Theatre Festival is an international theatre festival in the spirit of Ingmar Bergman. It was an immediate success, inspiring a subsequent festival in 2012. It was established by Dramaten in 2009 to highlight contemporary theatre both national and international, by presenting performances from around the world in the spirit of Ingmar Bergman. In addition to the international guest performances, Dramaten will present a number of new productions as part of the festival program. For eleven days we will present performances, concerts, dialogues and discussions, lectures, film screenings, radio plays etc. The core of the festival will be Ingmar Bergman’s extensive oeuvre as writer and theatre and film director, although the festival will also include performances with no direct connection to his works.
