Galleries:
Art Dubai features three gallery programmes— Contemporary, Modern and Marker—offering audiences the opportunity to discover the work of more than 500 artists through histories and across geographies.
In 2020, Art Dubai celebrated its tenth edition with 94 galleries from 40 countries.
Art Dubai projects:
Art Dubai Projects is a not-for-profit programme of new works and performances that explores the fabric and economy of an art fair, embracing the theatrical nature of such an event. The programme also includes a radio station and the Art Dubai Cinema.
Primarily, Art Dubai Projects aims to support artists’ practices, and encourage audiences to embrace the quizzical and participatory nature of the fair. Yet organically – and thanks to the artists who have seized the opportunity with such dedication and zeal – the programme has allowed the fair to develop a more constant, almost institutional edge, while forcing us to be particularly open and self-reflexive in our approach.
Global Art Forum Dubai :
Each year, the Global Art Forum brings together a diverse line-up of artists, curators, musicians, strategists, thinkers and writers to present and debate ideas around a curated theme. Typically featuring around 50 speakers, and running over five days, the Global Art Forum has become known as one of the largest and most significant annual arts conferences in the Middle East and Asia.
The Forum is also recognised for its particularly collaborative, innovative approach, drawing on other disciplines and experiences to take a broad ‘helicopter view’ of the artworld; the programme typically includes performance, music, commissioned research and projects alongside the live talks. Over the years, the Forum has toured to Qatar, Kuwait, France and the UK, and grown to include publications, workshops and other educational initiatives.
Education
Education has been at the heart of Art Dubai since its launch in 2007; the fair now has the largest education programming of any such event worldwide, providing opportunities for children through to students, graduates, collectors and enthusiasts.
Programmes include: Campus Art Dubai, an art school for artists, curators, writers, designers and cultural producers based in the UAE; Forum Fellows, a fellowship that brings together exceptional young curators and writers from the Arab world; an artist-led children’s programme and children’s publications (in partnership with The Sheikha Manal Little Artist Program); and an Internship Programme. The fair also attracts an exceptionally high level of attendance from universities and colleges, attending organised trips.
Last edition of international art fair Dubai:
The dynamic programming at Art Dubai’s 2020 edition generated a wealth of interest from an increasingly diverse audience base. In 2020, Art Dubai welcomed 27,500 UAE-based, regional and international guests including collectors, gallerists, artists, and over 95 museum groups.
