1. Adventure Travel & Responsible:

Tourism Adventure and sport travel are increasingly popular - they are a segment of the travel industry which is growing strongly. At ITB Berlin new trends are highlighted as well as the facets of ecologically-friendly, socially responsible tourism.
The focus is on travel which facilitates experiencing nature and discovering personal insights of the host country’s culture, while simultaneously making a contribution towards environmental protection and the well-being of the population. This has made “Adventure Travel, Responsible Tourism” at ITB Berlin an international forum for sustainable tourism.


2. Business Travel:

Travel and event managers have to react quickly and efficiently to changing economic and technological conditions. That’s why we offer the ITB Business Travel Days: three days of the latest knowledge about methods and strategies as well as practical tips which can be applied immediately.

4. ITB Book Awards:


From cultural or adventure trips to beach or hiking vacations to business or city travel: Each year at the ITB Book Awards an independent jury bestows prizes to outstanding literary or journalistic works in the area of travel and tourism. The Destination Awards, which are always dedicated to one special destination, are in the foreground: 2013 featured Indonesia, in 2014 it was Brazil and in 2020 Mongolia will be the Official Partner Country of ITB Berlin.
The ITB Book Awards are given by Messe Berlin. The award ceremony takes place on ITB Friday in the “Summer Garden” on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds, in the Cinema of the Marshall House. The event will be hosted by Mary Amiri.


5. Culture Tourism:


For more and more people, culture plays an important role when choosing holiday destinations. Countries, cities and regions are drawing more attention to their cultural offers.
Culture tourism makes a significant contribution towards increasing tourism-based capacity utilization in low and off-season periods. At ITB Berlin culture tourism has a permanent place in the Culture Lounge of our partner.


6. Training & Employment in Tourism (Career Center):

Hall 11.1 at ITB Berlin is all about your career in the travel industry. German and international universities, colleges of applied science, vocational academies, scientific institutes and other service providers present their offers in the Career Center.


7. Study & Training:


Everyone who’s interested can get information about study and training opportunities and start networking. The advantages for exhibitors: You can reach (potential) students, enhance your reputation among tourism companies and raise your profile in the highly competitive international training environment.


8. Travel Technology:

Efficient technological solutions are increasingly becoming a decisive factor in successful travel industry business models.
The ITB Berlin segment Travel Technology features four halls where providers present their global distribution systems (GDS), tour operator databases, reservation systems, travel agency software and calculation programs. The main focus in Hall 5.1 is on software for tour operators and travel agencies. In halls 8.1 and 10.1 the focus is on technology providers for the hotel industry.
The latest developments will be discussed in PhoCusWright@ITB, the Travel Technology professional convention. The Social Media, Big Data and Mobile Travel Services areas can be found in the eTravel World in Hall 6.1.
Travel Technology Guided Tours
After the successful start during ITB Berlin 2014, ITB Berlin is offering 60-minute tours through the Travel Technology halls also in 2020.
The Guided Tours are organized by Experts from Tourismuszukunft – Institut für eTourismus. The participation is free of charge for all ITB trade visitors, exhibitors and accreditated media. There are 3 different tours for tour operators, destinations and the hospitality industry.


9. Youth Travel & Economy Accommodation:

Young people want to discover the world. They’re travelling further, staying longer, spending more money and are more connected than ever, as documented by the New Horizons Report III of the WYSE Travel Confederation. The predicted growth in this segment – 59% over the next ten years – provides a clear message: The future belongs to Youth Travel.
By 2020 the tourism industry is expected to have more income from young travelers than from the business travel segment. Looking forward, backpacker, budget & design hotels – as well as youth hostels, internet portals and organizations – will present their offers and strategies for this attractive target group at ITB Berlin.
