Stockholm Jazz Festival will be held 09 to 18 Oct 2020 in Stockholm, Sweden. Stockholm Jazz Festival is one of Sweden's oldest festivals and Stockholm's biggest jazz events with over 130 concerts at more than 30 different venues. In October international stars will play alongside upcoming bands with very bright futures at this vibrant festival. After many years the Stockholm Jazz Festival has earned a reputation for being one of the biggest and best events of its kind in Europe. Top international and local jazz, blues, soul, funk and Latin stars perform over the seven-day festival on the island of Skeppsholmen. The Jazz Festival has already grown a huge amount, now taking place over a full week, including about 20 different venues and more than a hundred concerts. Skeppsholmen is still the main venue, giving the festival its beautiful trademark backdrop of the Stockholm harbour. Apart from the best jazz musicians Scandinavia has to offer, the festival attracts heavyweight international stars. More than 30,000 people attend the festival annually. Stockholm Jazz Festival is an event and I like events...
The Stockholm Jazz Festival has grown from humble roots in 1980 to become one of the foremost events on the city’s calendar. Regularly spilling out across the whole city, and across a myriad of venues, the festival brings the Baltic city of Stockholm to life. A history of jazz music in Sweden explains why this event attracts so many visitors, and why the calibre of musicians is exceptionally high. A lack of popularity in Jazz in recent years has inspired the city to donate huge sums of money into reviving this classic event that also claims to be the oldest still running festival in the whole of Sweden.
More than 30,000 people attend the festival annually.
Over the years, arguably all known names in jazz have appeared on stage – including Swedish stars such as Arne Domnérus, Monica Zetterlund, Nils Landgren, Peps Persson, and Lisa Ekdahl, and international giants such as Count Basie, BB King, Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, and Miriam Makeba.
