Amsterdam Fringe Festival will be held 03 to 13 Sep 2020 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Amsterdam Fringe Festival takes place in the fringes of the Dutch Theatre Festival, highlighting Amsterdam’s avant-garde drama productions. The Amsterdam Fringe Festival is based on the famous and successful Fringe Festival as they exist in, for example Edinburgh, Adelaide, New York and Grahamstown (SA). During those 11 Fringe days you can see works from over 80 theatre groups, of unorthodox, national and international theatre directors and artists, at more then 40 different locations spread throughout the city. AFF is a multifaceted dynamic, exciting, and innovative performing arts festival believing in open access, artistic quality, and creative and public accessibility. AFF aims to create a sustainable environment for independent (fringe) performing artists and professionals, mainly from the Netherlands, but also from abroad (up to 40% representation). There is an extensive ‘Language No Problem’ program, which means shows that are either in English or that make no use of words or language are marked with LNP sign. About 50% of the shows is suitable for non-Dutch speakers. Amsterdam Fringe Festival is an event and I like events...
Fringe focuses on the performing arts: dance, multimedia, live art, theater and music. Dis.nc.ve to the AFF rela.ve to other Fringe festivals is that we have, in principle, a no Stand-Up Comedy acceptance. The organization does not impose hard artistic criteria or interference with your work and is therefore not responsible for the artistic quality of your particular production. However, as the Fringe works with a competitive model and places great emphasis on cultural entrepreneurship, a professional attitude is an absolute must to get access to the festival. The festival organization reserves the right to pursue a program in which both the Dutch, Flemish and international performance industry is represented, ensuring that great diversity and mobility is reflected in the margins of the established theater. While applicants can be breaking through, entering the industry, or well-established, preference is given to groups that are not structurally subsidized.
