Festival dei Popoli will be held 15 to 22 Nov 2020 in Florence, Italy. Festival dei Popoli targets a wide national and international audience with up to 100 films selected among submissions received from approximately 70 countries. The festival explores the diversity of documentary cinema, showing recent productions through its competitive sections, retrospective programmes and homages to masters of documentary cinema. Festival dei Popoli is also a space for industry professionals to meet, exchange ideas and develop projects, thanks to Doc at Work, the festival's international coproduction market. The 57th edition of the Festival dei Popoli – International Documentary Film Festival – will take place in Florence from November the 25th to December the 2nd, 2020.
The aim of the Festival dei Popoli is to promote and circulate creative documentary and cutting-edge films, foster discussion between various branches of learning, and provide a space for the cinematic arts and other disciplines to engage with each other and grow.
An International Jury composed of leading figures in documentary cinema will bestow the following Awards:
Special Mentions may also be granted. The awards will be paid within twelve months of the Award Ceremony.
The festival audience will express their preferences by voting.
For the other sections (Out of Competition, Retrospectives and Tributes, Thematic Sections, Special Events), the Festival Management will invite films they deem appropriate for the Festival programme. These sections are non- competitive and there are no restrictions based on production date.
