History of Paris carnival:
Back in the medieval times, the carnival of Paris was very popular. In fact, it was so popular that it inspired other cities in the world to do the same (which gave birth to the famous Rio and Venice Carnivals). The carnival would generally last for weeks and was a time of gathering and feasting for people of different origins, social statuses and professions just before lent.
Following political and social tensions in the 1950’s, the tradition was brought to a sudden stop. With the help of one dedicated man, the Carnaval de Paris was brought back to life in 1993 and has since then attracted more and more people every year.
