Why Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival 2020?
Tenerife is known for beautiful vistas, great nightspots and luxurious resorts but you can’t say you know Tenerife until you’ve been there for Carnival. This riotous festival is world-famous for its exuberance and wildness and lasts for upto three weeks. Carnival is celebrated in every town and village on the island, but the most spectacular carnival celebrations are to be found in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Puerto de la Cruz.
Every year, crowds of people come to experience this fiesta where everything is allowed and you have only one obligation: to have fun. Rhythm, colour, flamboyance, luxury and of course the most brilliant spectacle.

When the Carnival is almost over ( because there will be another weekend of piñata to permanently dismiss the festivities until another year ) , the Tenerife says goodbye tears of grief. The Burial of the Sardine is the most irreverent and lighthearted show all Carnival, with which the end of the libertine party announced at a ceremony after a humorous and grotesque procession of mourners and items a burlesque own funeral , just with the purifying fire as a sacrificial event excesses , to make way for Lent , a time of religious and spiritual reflection.

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival Characters are real citizens who take to the streets to get a smile out of people, to participate in a unique spectacle where humour prevails. They are residents of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with names, professions and family duties. But they are, first and foremost, people who dress with their favourite costume to embellish the party of all parties of the capital of Tenerife.
