Why Winter Light Festival (Japan) 2019?
Nabana no Sato can claim to have one of the biggest and best illumination displays in all of Japan. The tunnels of millions of lights encased in flower-shaped bulbs create fascinating natural scenes, such as Mount Fuji at dawn and a rainbow across the sky.
The place is known not only for its botanical garden, but also for onsens and flower blossoms throughout the year, restaurants and shops. Open from 9am – 9pm, the park is a very popular tourist attraction so be prepared for crowds, especially on weekends.
When to go Winter Light Festival (Japan) 2019?
Open 9am to 9pm, the theme park itself can be enjoyed year-round, but the Winter Festival runs for four months from mid-November to mid-March. but some run longer, starting as early as October and running until Valentine's Day or even into spring.
Top tip:
Wrap up warm in plenty of layers and go on a weeknight if possible as the weekends can get particularly crowded on the weekends. If you want to make a day of it, the park hosts a variety of restaurants.
