The exhibition provides an ideal platform for key decision makers within the industry, allowing major equipment importers, distributors and agents to network and discuss new business opportunities in this quickly evolving industry in Sultanate and nearing countries. Eltex Oman is an event and I like events...
Oman has been investing heavily on infrastructure development for quite some time with an aim to stimulate the economic growth, and it hasn't missed an opportunity to upgrade existing facilities that can match the best in the world and pioneer fresh concepts that will ultimately bring more business to the country.
While the Sultanate is set to reap benefits from some of the projects very soon, it is busy sowing the seeds of many other ambitious plans to ensure a prosperous future. Robust industrialization, rising population, increasing personal income, housing starts and continuous government investment in infrastructure projects has led to a substantial demand for the utilities sector in Sultanate. A number of multi-billion dollar independent power plants (IPPs) are in various stages of construction and development, with more to be rolled out in the coming years, and private sector participation, liberalization, and investor-friendly policies are seen to contribute to this growth. Oman’s power sector is presently seeing continuous expansion to meet growing demand, which has increased from 6 to 7 % per year to 10% off late and is expected to grow further. Population growth and the expansion of heavy industry have put a strain on Oman’s power infrastructure and, by extension, its oil and gas reserves.
With peak demand for power within Oman expected to grow from 5,122 MW in 2014 to 9,530 MW in 2021 and average demand expected to grow from 2,852 MW in 2014 to 5,373 MW in 2021 (an average increase of around 9% per year in both cases), several major power projects initiated by Oman government are in the pipe line.
