Vuelta a España will be held 14 Aug to 06 Sep 2020 in Madrid, Spain. Vuelta a España is among the three most recognized cycling races in the world. This three-week Grand Tour cycling stage race takes place in Spain, while also occasionally making passes through nearby countries. The first week of a Grand Tour has never looked so exciting with all the summit finishes. La Vuelta a españa can only be described as stunning. Taking in a whole lap of Spain, it usually begins in Andalucia, where the cyclists venture north to the green mountains. This fantastic journey will take you through some of the best cycling areas of beautiful Northern Spain. The Vuelta a España has a bit of a reputation for being somewhat unrelenting if you’re not an absolute beast in the mountains. And even if you’re skilled at cycling uphill, no-one looks good riding up 30 per cent gradients. Vuelta a España is an event and I like events...

History of Vuelta a España:

First held in 1935 and annually since 1955, the Vuelta runs for three weeks in a changing route across Spain. The inaugural event (1935) saw 50 entrants face a 3,411 km course over only 14 stages, averaging over 240 km per stage. It was inspired by the success of the Tours in France and Italy. Now the race is the final Grand Tour of the cycling season and features 21 stages, beginning with a team time trial that will start in Balneario Laias. The subsequent stages will include 10 summit finishes. The race will end in Madrid.

Route of Vuelta a España 2020:

The 2020 Vuelta a España will leave Saturday, 19 August, with a team time trial in Nîmes, France, to arrive on Sunday, 10 September, in Madrid. The 2nd stage is played out on French soil as well, while stage 3 is supposed to see a (summit) finish in Andorra. After 1997 and 2009, with ‘Grandes Salidas’ in Portugal and the Netherlands, this is going to be the third time in history the Vuelta a España starts outside of Spain.
