Florence Biennale will be held 18 to 26 Oct 2025 in Florence, Italy. Florence Biennale is the main contemporary art exhibit in Florence and it has always represented an excellent showcase of the world’s contemporary art. Every two years it animates the city of Florence thanks to a rich program featuring conferences, exhibits, performances, and educational events, which offer artists and visitors various opportunities to learn about and discuss some of the main themes of art and culture. From its first founding in 1997, the Florence Biennale has taken pride in being one of the few international events (if not the first of its kind) to be organised as an independent and self-financed stage for contemporary art. It features all the principal forms of expression of the visual arts: painting, sculpture, art on paper, photography, installations, video art, digital art, mixed media, ceramic, textile art, performance, jewelry art. It has exhibited the work of almost 6000 artists from more than a hundred countries. Florence Biennale is an event and I like events...
Today it is one of the most important points of reference for contemporary art in the world and it is continuously searching for and nurturing the most innovative and interesting artists. The mission that the Florence Biennale has followed since its inception has been to work in favour of intercultural dialogue and to promote respect and tolerance between peoples through art and culture. The efforts it has made in promoting these values have resulted in numerous recognitions from international organisations such as the United Nations and the UNESCO Centers.
For about 20 years The Biennale of Florence has worked on promoting the development of artists work by proposing and attempting to conceive a new way to view and/or understand Contemporary Art.
Since the foundation of the Florence Biennale, about 5000 artists from 100 different countries in the world have discovered that the city of Florence is the ideal area to promote and display their art and different cultures.
With no filter, except for quality, all participating artists have the opportunity to meet and exchange their ideas and opinions each other as well as directly with the public. It offers the opportunity to both emerging and established artist to benefit from the possibility to demonstrate their work and talent at an international level.
Also giving emerging artist the chance to confront and meet established artist, leading to various exchanges of ideas, opinions and interest. It’s a melting pot of culture that will make the various artistic expressions and understandings of the contemporary world more prominent.
The Florence Biennale accepts all the techniques, currents and artistic tendencies. At present the FB art categories (listed in alphabetical order) are Ceramic Art, Digital Art, Drawing & Calligraphy, Installation Art, Jewellery Art, Mixed Media, Performance Art, Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Textile & Fiber Art, and Video Art.
The number of artworks that can be displayed varies depending on the exhibition space chosen by the artist, and the dimensions of the artworks themselves.
The registration deadline is 30 April 2025. Considering that the exhibition spaces are limited, and in order to be eligible for certain reserved benefits, we recommend all the interested artists to send the application within 15 July 2025.
The International Jury has, for many years, played a very important role in the life of the Biennial. Its role is to assess the artists that take part in the exhibition and provide them with the international award “Lorenzo il Magnifico”.
