Grafenegg Festival will be held 19 Jun to 07 Sep 2025 in Grafenegg, Austria. Grafenegg Festival is a major international Austrian festival for classical music close to Vienna. The annual festival takes place on the grounds of Grafenegg Castle. Located between Vienna and the World Heritage Site Wachau, Grafenegg is one of the most highly regarded festival venues for major international orchestras, soloists and talented young musicians, with its unique setting. Amidst the enchanting castle park, the impressive futuristic open-air stage "Wolkenturm" – counted as one of the best acoustic open-air stages in the world – was built and became part of the unique symbiosis of old and new, of nature and architecture. Grafenegg Festival is an event and I like events...
Romantic raptures, mediaeval minstrels, symphonic highlights, operetta and works that cross musical boundaries: every Saturday, a Summer Concert waits to take you on a musical adventure. The Tonkunstler Orchestra and other leading ensembles present a range of exciting programmes and are joined by an exclusive line-up of classical soloists. Spend your summer Saturdays in the unique setting of the castle grounds and enjoy music in the heart of nature.
The summer festival programme is under the artistic direction of pianist Rudolf Buchbinder and presents great symphonic and selected chamber music. Every year Grafenegg offers concerts with orchestras like the Vienna Philharmonic, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic as well as internationally renowned artists including Anne-Sophie Mutter and Renée Fleming. The Composer in Residence co-creates the festival as composer, musician and leader of the composer-conductor-workshop INK STILL WET, which is part of the Grafenegg Campus. The Campus has established itself alongside the concert programme as an attractive venue for education and discussion in terms of constructive promotion of excellence, setting music by and for the young in the context of international orchestras and illustrious artists.
